The Teacher
Jill Dunkley originally came
to yoga to help reduce work stress. The profound results she
experienced connecting her mind and body through yoga led to a trip to
India in the mid- 1990’s. She spent some time in the Himalayas of
Northern India where she met the Dalai Lama. This encounter
changed the direction of her life.
Jill subsequently devoted her life to
teaching yoga. In 2000, she and fellow yoga teacher Joy Demsey founded
the co-operatively run Yoga Connection yoga
studios in Perth, Smiths Falls and Westport, Ontario. In 2008
Jill obtained her certification as a yoga therapist from
internationally renowned yoga therapy expert, Gary Kraftsow at
the American Vinyioga
Institute. Jill is also a member of the International Association of Yoga
Therapists.
One of Jill’s interests is integrating the
tools of yoga with her love of the natural world. Jill has worked
with her husband Andy Fisher as an apprentice vision quest guide since
2004, bringing her skills as a yoga therapist to her work as a leader
of wilderness rites-of-passage.
